On Labor Day every place was crowded for breakfast and we knew we'd have to wait anywhere. Unfortunately we elected to stay at Adams and wait for a table for the 2 of us. The hostess gave us an estimate of 25 minutes to 1 hour. While we waited in the bar, where we ordered coffee and juice, we watched some groups get seated after a wait and then other groups, larger than 2 people, got seated immediately upon arrival. A couple was seated, ate, and left in the time that we waited. When checking with the hostess we were told that we had waited 54 minutes and had 5 more minutes to wait. After another 10 minutes we were escorted to the back dining room where 3 tables for 2 people were vacant and we passed a 2 top and a 4 top in the front dining area. Another couple who arrived about 15 minutes after we did waited another 10 minutes after we were seated to be escorted to a table. It felt as if there was a mandatory waiting time that a couple had to wait before being seated. Larger groups appeared to be following a different protocol. Is it not possible to seat 2 people at a larger table if they arrive first? The frustration over this misguided and inequitable seating policy overshadowed whatever the food was like. We won't be going back to Adams for a second chance.

Serice sucked and food was really bland. Don't waste your time here. 6 people at our table and none of the meals were very enjoyable. All of us agreed to never come back.

Don't bother making reservations online because they don't adhere to them even though their site advertises it. Two reservations, two 'sorry, we cannot accommodate your reservation' upon arrival. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I have eaten here for years and have always had a good experience until today. I'm sure the food is still great at the new location but today turned out to be a poor experience. I had met up with my family and suggested we head over to Adams for lunch. It's July 4th and we expected them to be busy....they were. We needed a table for 10 and I would have fully understood had they told us that our party was simply too large but they didn't, instead, they told us to wait 35 minutes. We sat there for well over an hour, long enough to see that the don't have their business processes worked out well at this new location. The have more seating but are not putting out the food any faster than they last location and so the kitchen was running behind. On top of that their reservation systems doesn't seem to communicate well with the waiting in person system because the excuse for the long wait was that the reservations had priority...which is logical but why tell us that 3 parties are in front of us when in fact numerous parties with reservations are also in front of us. I don't think it's the hostesses fault - she simply didn't have a system in place to support her. I do think the management has some work to do with their business processes. If you can't accommodate large parties or walk ins, etc, let us know. But please tell us you will accommodate us and then fail to do so. I hope things get up and running soon.

Tried the lasagna there a while back, it was outstanding. My girlfriend tried some breakfast items and I was surprised in the excellent quality. The pancakes were incredible. Everything was very flavorful. Staff was beyond friendly. They were helpful and informative. One of the gals who introduced herself as Kelli even sat down with us for a minute and answered our multiple questions about the food and about the town of Manitou as we were on vacation and were unfamiliar with the place. Very comfortable setting, relatively affordable and exceptional quality. I'm not vegan at all, but I wouldn't have even noticed, there is no essence of lacking ingredients. Good food, good drinks, good service. What else can you ask for. We'll be back!

Unbelievable!!! Such a cozy mountainside place to grub. Had a side order of green onion potato pancakes with a Sherry cream sauce that should be an entree and the soup of the day was a creamy vegetarian green chili with goat cheese. Perfect service, beautiful desserts and a chef who obviously knows what they're doing.

Delicious breakfast! 2nd time in a row. Will be back. Reasonable 20min wait. Food came out surprisingly quickly after ordering. Awesome omelettes, quiche, huevos rancheros, etc. Gotta come try later in the day food soon!

I had been eying Adams Mountain Cafe since I arrived in Manitou Springs and finally decided to give it a try before the next leg of my trip. Reservations were easy enough, and I was happy to hear that my more comfortable attire of shorts and a shirt would be allowed, a nice change of pace from my usual routine. I arrived to find a restaurant which was beautifully decorated and remodeled in the interior which would make anyone feel comfy and at home. This comfy ness, however as good as the service and initial curb appeal began, would take a sudden and tragic dive. A seemingly nice family was seated next to me in the (at then) completely empty restaurant. As I perused the menu with the help of my kind waitress Jade, I was suddenly overcome with the incessant and continuous coughing of their obviously extremely ill toddler. What I thought was the odor of the cask brewed local beer which I ordered was overcome by the sudden realization that the mother and father, instead of considering others health, decided that it was appropriate to provide this toddler with a bag in which to vomit at their table. I soon found that the few other tables seated by us were also becoming quite disturbed by the situation. As I attempted to finish my jerk chicken, after being kindly accommodated with a different table by my waitress, I realized just how good of an experience this could have been. The chicken was beautifully seasoned, balancing saltiness with the cold fruit slaw which accompanied it. The mashed potatoes with green onion were also incredible. I would have liked to enjoy a little bit more time here, along with a desert, but after management lacked to acknowledge and respond to the inappropriateness of a family bringing such a chronically ill child to their restaurant, I decided to skip out on dessert, and the flu that would likely accompany it. Based on this, despite the cooks obvious skill, I cannot forgive the front of house, and cannot recommend this establishment. As usual, thank you for reading, and expect a full in-detail review at the same place, on the same bat channel. edit 7/2/15- and as suspected, I am visiting a local clinic at my next travel stop (New York City) with a sore throat and cough. This bout of antibiotics brought to you by the Adams Mountain Cafe front of house and inconsiderate and completely ignorant parents!

One of our favorites, my wife and I try to go at least once a week. We haven't had a dish that we didn't love. The food is fresh, the wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful. On the weekends they normally have a fish special and David does a fantastic job of making an exceptional meal out of it.

Fantastic breakfast, tea, coffee, and special items every time I have visited. The orange spice tea was one of my favorite teas and the Chai Latte was as good. The omelet of the day was a good option, but nothing here is a bad option.

Nice mom and pop experience, very tasty food. A little on the pricey side, otherwise this place would easily earn five stars!

Fabulous, after a trip up Pikes Peak we stopped here. The food was very good, some interesting boozy drinks too. The atmosphere is quaint. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Lisa K.

I get that the whole atmosphere is about slow food, enjoying the time, not being rushed... but I guess it was too much for me. We arrived hungry, and had to wait. We asked if we could stay in the bar area to *spend money,* which they seemed to reluctantly agree to. It was painful to watch servers slooooooowly bring food out to half empty tables. But I will give them credit that they really advocate that mentality and are pretty upfront about it. Anyway, once we were seated, things did go a bit better. We enjoyed sharing the nachos - they were just fine, but hunger is the best sauce. The huevos rancheros was all right too - the green chili was on the bland side and I ended up leaving the whole wheat tortillas, but it's hard to go wrong with a couple of eggs, beans, sour cream, and some extra salsa to pour on. The whole grain pancakes were quite dense and... very grainy... not in a good way. The cream-sherry sauce on the potatoes came highly recommended, but we found it bland and ended up adding salsa to this as well.

  • Taryn W.

My friends and I went for the vegan options. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian items, which is awesome...but the food was so so. I wish I liked it better, but it just wasn't that good to me. I can't remember exactly what I got, but I know it was some sort of soup and it had a cooked lime in it that I bit into near the end and it ruined it for me. And the service was horribly slow! The whole visit was pretty unmemorable, except for the lime and how freaking slow it was. I wasn't even that hungry going in, but after waiting 20 minutes before I even ordered, and then an additional 40, I almost walked out. They weren't busy either. It was ridiculous. I wouldn't go back.

My mom and continually come to Adam's Mountain Cafe because we love their food. It has never been cold and they have served in a timely manner. From their oatmeal to their salads, pancakes and eggs, the meals have always been fantastic. I've seen a couple reviews saying the wait staff is unfriendly--but I've never experienced this firsthand. I would describe it as a distant but friendly professionalism. The new location is great! It's clean and well-lit with live music occasionally. If you get a chance, try their orange spiced tea! It's amazing.

  • chris b.

I have enjoyed my experience there so far..Been there at least 15 times:) However, I called today to see if they could make me 4 breakfast sandwiches with turkey sausages eggs and cheese. She said no, we could order all those things on the side and make it ourselves. I said they can't put eggs, cheese and turkey sausage on toast for us? she said not if its not on the menu they will not make it. I think maybe a little more wanting to please the customer would have been nice. I didn't think it was a crazy request. Other than that, Good quality good and service.

  • Brit M.

What a waist of money! There breakfast potatoes were so bland I couldn't add enough salt and pepper to eat them and there omelette was OK but could be better.

  • Mary M.

I feel badly that the new location only has one review and one lousy star to date! It's a solid 4.5 in my book. The food was honestly just delicious. It was the perfect complement to our visit to the area and all the amazing natural beauty. I had the Senagalese vegetables over brown rice with tempeh. It was a hearty serving and the peanut sauce was awesome. My husband had the rustic lasagna and he found it very satisfying. It doesn't taste like "health food" in that flavor and quality are the most salient characteristics, but it's nice to know it is also good for you. We went on a Saturday night a little past 8, and it was bustling, but we waited not more than five minutes for a table. The ambience is homey and very Colorado (we are from Los Angeles where there is not such a concentration of rosy-cheeked outdoorsy types). Our bill came to about $50 including tip for two entrees and two beers. Our server was was pleasant. We will certainly return next time we are in the area.

The Service was rather terrible, than so, so. Our waitress, seemed to be in another dimension, slow and dumb. The food has actually lost some of the good old qualities, rather dry and in one case over cooked. Needless to say never again, specially with ms. Piggy at the front door. Something happened, the grew and forgot, quality and manners. THREE STRIKES YOU ARE OUT !!!

As always, the small planet burger makes my tastebuds sing and my belly happy. I would LOVE to know how to make it for the times I can't get to Adam's. Service was good, the new location is awesome (now with PARKING!!) and even closer to me than the other location.

  • Kyle M.

We've tried this place three times and we really wanted to like it, since we live right down the road. Their ingredients are always fresh and the inside is really nicely renovated. The biggest problem we have is the lack of flavor with every meal we've ordered. We never salt or season our food after ordering it, except at this place. All three times we've been we've had to ask for hot sauce or add salt because of the lack of flavor in their dishes. At the prices they charge, high for this style of food, we expect our food to come out reasonably seasoned. Skip this place if you're looking for a good meal in the Manitou area and go for one of the other excellent choices.

I am SO torn about how to write this review. I LOVED Adams Mountain Café in their old location. Never once had a negative experience over there. In fact I would have given them 5 stars if I had written a review then. I expected the same experience when I had breakfast for the first time in their new location this morning with my parents. Unfortunately I was ever so slightly disappointed. The food, in my opinion, is wholesome, generously portioned, and beautifully presented. However, today I did detect a bit of blandness to all of it (as raised in others' reviews) - even the cinnamon roll. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, Potato Patties with Green Onions, and coffee. I shared a cinnamon roll with my dad. I wish I could put my finger on WHAT was missing but I can't. The food just didn't knock my socks off. In fact I took two bites of the potato patties and pushed them to the side. They were cold and bland. Halfway through my entree I had the unpleasant surprise of gnawing down on a large slice of lime that was mixed in to the food. My dad had one in his food as well. WTF? I love lime but NOT like that. Despite the lime incident and the slight blandness issue, I might have given AMC 4 stars if the waitress had had a better disposition and if I wasn't compelled to compare the new location/atmosphere to the old but, unfortunately, both were lacking. If I hadn't grown so fond of the old location I would say their new location is quaint and hometown-restaurant-like. It isn't open and airy and artsy like the old. I also wish they would take the time to create a gluten-free menu so that people don't have to memorize the numerous ways you can make parts of their menu gluten-free as the disinterested waitress quickly rattles them off. Seriously. Just put a little symbol next to the item that means "this can be made gluten-free". I understand they have live (yay!) music (not sure when exactly). Ugh. I'm really just trying to be honest but writing this review feels bad and disappointing. I will return but will adjust my expectations accordingly next time. Sorry beloved Manitou :-(

Great place and cute.... We got the shrimp and grits, Rancheros, and potatoes. I would deff get the rancheros and potatoes agin but the shrimp was lacking flavor. Good beer on tap.

"Wait for the food and wait on the staff". This is the title I went with for my recent outing to the Manitou favorite. I've included the others at the bottom of the review. Here's the deal: the food is great, but you need to be in the mood for cottage cuisine. The meals are well prepared with fresh whole food items and tastes like what your vegan grandmother would probably make. That said, this place is not for the meat eaters or anyone craving that fatty satisfaction that comes with eating out. The food is slow by design. This means planning ahead and it's worth it. The new location boasts parking and a bright welcoming atmosphere. I miss the creek, and how could you not, but the new location is a wonderful place, especially if you'd never been to the original. So why the 2 stars, because the staff is pretentious. I'm not saying everyone is, but enough of them are. I get it, you have non-gmo, healthy, vegan friendly, hand-made cuisine and you're having to serve it to a parade of middle age minivan drivers. Life is hard. But you don't have to be a jerk about it. Smiles and manners are vegan, too. Seriously, why the douchiness? I will continue to eat there, because my wife loves it and it is consistent in quality. I'm a big boy and know the way people treat me says more about them than it does about me. It's just sad that a place with so much potential leaves a distaste in your mouth. Other titles "The only animal suffering is your own." "Whole grains with Whole Attitude" "Slow food, slower staff" "Like your vegan grandma would make, and your drunk uncle would serve."

Wait for a table, wait for service and finally receive cold food. I have never been a big fan of Adams Mountain Cafe, but wanted to give them an honest shot after their new move. I found the issues that I have at every location to be the same at their new one. Pretentious servers who for some reason believe cold eggs and gelatinous cheese as acceptable to serve. Time to kill or murder after waiting for the cold food to show up. Yes I understand it is slow food, but if it is slow food have it all come out at once for the entire table. When we order food for our kids we expect it to come out before or with the adults entrees not sometime in the same epoch. I truly believe in Adams Mountain Cafe's desire to bring wholesome slow cooked food to the masses, I just wish it was more edible and enjoyable then it is. And in all honesty 2 stars is really more then they should get, but because of their philosophy I am OK with two just for that.

None of us had been to Adam's Mountain before, and we went because we had a gift certificate. We normally would not go for breakfast to a restaurant without bacon, but off we went. After waiting an hour for a table, we were seated. I had the spiced tea and thought that it was delicious! The other three had an iced latte, two shots, and thought they were weak and perhaps made with condensed milk. My entree was absolutely the best huevos rancheros I've ever eaten! What a surprise in a place not specializing in Mexican food! The whole wheat tortilla was the perfect base for the home made refried pinto and black beans, over easy eggs, and very nicely spiced vegetarian green chile. My wife and I split an order of breakfast potatoes smothered in green chile. The red potatoes were steamed but very slightly undercooked, smothered in cheese and chile and seasoned nicely. My wife had the French Toast. After passing it around for tasting, we all agreed that the citrusy taste was quite pleasant. My son ordered a smothered turkey burrito and said it was tasty, albeit skimpy on the turkey. His girlfriend had the breakfast potatoes with two poached eggs on top. The poached eggs are cooked in those egg cups in a steamer like home cooks use instead of the professional chef method of poaching. The egg yolks were hard cooked. We all liked the food and service and want to return again soon!

I am actually going with 2.5 stars. I get that I mistakenly went to a vegan/vegetarian restaurant. I'm cool, I can do healthy stuff. Well I can when things are cooked properly, like cooked to where things are HOT! Please don't bring me an omelette with cold tomatoes, asparagus and cold cream cheese and un-melted cheddar. It was just blobs of cold stuff on a room temp egg. I was so sad. The toast was rock hard. I could not even bite into it. It's TOAST... come on!!! Children can make toast.... It was all kinda bland and cold. Except I am pretty sure the orange spice tea, which if served cold, could be used to strip paint. I used A LOT of water to make it potable. I guess I am not as flexible as I thought. =)

Overall very disappointing- despite great ambiance, live music (very classy touch) on a weekday morning, food was exceedingly bland with service spacey and lackluster. Could be so much better....

Back in the day I would have given Adams Mountain 5 stars. However, I'm not thrilled with the new digs. I guess the atmosphere of the creek and the funky Manitou vibe were a big part of the draw for me. Now that they are in the new place I just don't find myself wanting to go anymore. I guess without all of the cool surroundings one is left to judge on food and service alone and frankly...the food is good but is offset by some pretty meh service. I work hard for my $$$ so I'm pretty picky about how I spend it. Give me a good experience, great food and friendly service and I'm there. One or two out of three just isn't good enough.

This place is ok - nothing spectacular. As others have said, the service is slow. It is also very loud in the back room at lunch time (even though not all tables were full). Waiting for our check and then getting change took longer than it should have but it seemed like our server was pretty busy. My mom really enjoyed her salad. I thought the (sunflower?) sprouts were a nice touch and were fresh and crisp. My dad got an omelette. I think he thought it was good but again, nothing spectacular. I got the baked fish which happened to be haddock that day. It was good. It came with baked potato wedges and fresh greens with a lemon vinaigrette. The fish was a good portion and perfectly baked. The vinaigrette with the salad was a bit much. Too acidic of a pairing with the fish which had lemon wedges as garnishes or maybe just too much of it that it was overpowering. I felt the fish needed the lemon wedges or it was bland to the point of boring. It was encrusted with "homemade rosemary crackers" but I didn't detect much rosemary and only a portion of the fish was encrusted so I understand where people think some of the food is bland. Ironically, the potatoes were overly seasoned to my taste. I think they had cumin or some other spice that I don't particularly love. A shame because they were nice otherwise and probably would have been great with rosemary. Our waitress was nice and checked on us for refills. She also comped my soda because I found a hair in my food which she didn't have to do but was certainly appreciated. She said sometimes "they get away from us in the power hour". Ha. Host was also nice. He told us it would be a 15-20 minute wait upon arriving but then we were seated in less than 5. But hey, better to overestimate. Overall, my mom liked the place but my dad and I left unimpressed. I think if you go, try one of their specialties like the Senegal rice. Their desserts also looked delicious. It was too loud to have a nice conversation comfortably but I like the decor and location. Food was just ok for the wait and price.

This was the first time I have eaten brunch at Adam's Mountain Cafe and I was sorely disappointed. I heard that the food and service was excellent, but I experienced the opposite. I ordered the red bean soup and half chicken salad sandwich. The soup was basically refried red beans with green chilies mixed in and a tiny dollop of sour cream on top. I felt that feta cheese would have made the soup ten times better. The chicken salad sandwich had a very strong wheat taste to it and bland chicken salad. I think Chick-Fil-A serves better chicken salad than this place. The water comes warm without ice, which was unpleasant. The service was horrendous because it was slow, rude, and unfriendly. The waitress was very rushed. When she dropped off the check, she didn't ask if it was separate or together. When I tried to tell her it was separate, she walked away before I could open my mouth. I immediately walked over to the hostess who was chopping vegetables behind the bar and asked her to have our waitress come back over. I witnessed the waitress delivering two plates before she came by and asked, "What have I had messed up?" When I said the checks were separate she apologized and walked briskly away. Instead of bringing the checks back immediately, she delivered drinks to another table and food to a second table. Then she disappeared for a while before bringing back the checks. It took over an hour to eat and pay for a preprepared soup and sandwich. I will not be returning and would recommend spending money on somewhere else that appreciates customers.

I have always loved Adam's, especially for breakfast. This was my first visit to their newest location and it was a really nice space. The huevos rancheros are my favorite, smothered in their yummy green chile. And now that I live in Colorado Springs I can have them whenever I want ;) If I'm there for lunch, I go for the chicken salad with blue cheese dressing on the side. Amazing! I also love their house spiced tea. It's great hot or iced, and you can buy it loose to take home! This place can get really busy on the weekends. So if you have the chance, go on a weekday. It's quiet, no wait and you can take your time. The menu is simple, sourced locally and cooked to perfection. One of the best restaurants in the Springs, IMO.

I really like this place. I feel relatively safe about their food and to me it is always good. Yesterday 3-22-15 I went to their new location for the first time and as always enjoyed the food. Now the service is a whole other matter. The bus/water boy was awesome I would tip that young man 30% any day! The waitress, we'll let me tell you I used to be a waitress and it is not easy, you have to put your game face on and play up to people that you really may not like. Due to my past work experience I always leave a 20% tip or higher, unless the wait staff is just seriously not on their game and this happened on this occasion. She got a 10% tip and from me that is saying, 'you only got that because I was being nice.' I wish I would of gave it to the busboy. She was just not nice! She would not tell us the daily specials. We overheard what they were from the waitress working the table next to us. 1 minute after I heard what one of the specials was I asked her about the drink and she immediately said, 'we are out!' I said ok, looking for an opportunity to see if perhaps I could inquire about a smoothie and she walked away. I thought you just cut your tip in half. This attitude started from the time we sat down till the time we left. I was glad to finish and leave. I hope next time she is nicer. Things maybe going on in your life and you may just not be feeling well. When you wait tables you better get your game face on and act like you like people, because you are messing with your money. I will go back to the restaurant I really like their food. I just hope the service is better, because I will be going home with more money again!

We will make a trip specifically to Manitou Springs just to eat at Adams Mountain Cafe! The service is friendly and attentive and the food served is AMAZING. The ingredients are fresh and you can tell that care is taken to prepare your meal. Such attention to quality and detail should not be overlooked. Make this a stop when visiting the Springs or Manitou!

Beautiful restaurant - light and airy . We waited 30 minutes for lunch and the service was leisurely so if you are in a hurry ... This is not the place for you. We enjoyed several things at our table from cashew chicken salad to French toast to a salmon omelet. Everyone loved their food and especially loved the fresh honey on their toast medicine the sliced fresh fruit.

FYI: If you want an accurate rating for this restaurant, look at the listing that says MOVED. This place is definitely not only 2.5 stars! I've only ever had breakfast here and it's always been delicious! Be warned, though: you can't get bacon or sausage, though they do have other meats on the menu. If you get a chance to try the cola pancakes with any sort of fruit compote (one of the specials on the menu today), DO IT!!! Best pancakes I have ever tried.

Great find! Stopped in for late lunch on a Tuesday after the thaw let us take to the road. Fantastic all the way around. Courteous, friendly reception and wait staff, delightful conversation when we had questions about the area and lovely art gracing their walls and excellent food. I enjoyed a cup of the Cuban Black bean soup (more of a delicious puree') and half of the daily special Tuns Melt sandwich. The tuna was not "wet" and not dry-just enough special condiment (yogurt?) to keep it together. Absolutely yummy. Husband isn't s fan of tea-room fate but he thoroughly enjoyed this place. And is you like cinnamon, the house spice tea is exquisite!

If you are vegan and have high hopes this is not the place for you. There's very little on their menu that is vegan and none of it is by default, you will have to have a long conversation about each menu item in order to figure out what can be made vegan. Didn't even order. Just had coffee and watched my friends eat.

This place flat out sucks. Went there for my birthday today and spent $80 with my family for the worst service and food ive ever had in my entire life. If anyone ever asks me about this place they will never want to visit. The food is disgusting, not many choices, they also served water from the tap which was warm and the waiter had his fingers on the rim of my glass when he placed it down. The leave sugar in an open container in the middle of the table, god knows who touched it and how long its been there. The food is meant to be healthy, but my dog wouldnt touch the meals they served us for outrageous prices. On top of the shitty visit, we waited 30 mins for a table. The waitress was snotty when asked to get us ketchup and more napkins. Everything about this place sucks and it is way over priced. Terrible terrible experience , Better believe the health department is being called right now. Dirty dirty place, saw the cook come out and almost threw my half eaten disgusting meal up. Would visit the soup kitchen before this trainwreck

The ambiance is nice....but this really is a place for people who try to eat out and be healthy. A breakfast place with no bacon on the menu. Enough said. Good food if that's what you are into but I like a little more grease in my spoon. Sorry, not sorry.

While there aren't many Vegan options at this eatery, the choices I made were very tasty. I had the Cuban Black Bean Soup & the Pozole Verde (Vegan versions). The Bean Soup was seasoned to perfection! I was skeptical about the Pozole, since I'm not a huge fan of Hominy, but it was delicious! The only gripe I have is that there was only a single Vegan option for Dessert. It would have been great to have at least 3.

Hands down the best brunch in town! Apple cider mimosas!! I had the salmon omelette (made with fresh dill). My hubby had the best huevos rancheros ever (and he is quite a connoisseur). They also have fresh juices, a coffee bar and they featured a pumpkin spice smoothie. If we'd had any room left, I'm sure we would have tried it! Stop reading this and go!

We stopped by here on a whim for breakfast and enjoyed our experience. We didn't realize that it was a health-conscious eatery, but we adjusted accordingly. My husband did miss not getting to have bacon, but we laughed about it and changed our mindset. He had the salmon omelet and I had the special olive omelet. Our daughter had the whole wheat pancakes. The grits were awesome. Prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. Our food did take a while - they were packed - but we "chilled" and enjoyed our conversation. There was natural sugar and honey on the table for sweeteners. There was only one restroom per gender and that had a consistent waiting line throughout the time we were there. It was a relaxed place with good vibes and filled us up for another leg of our trip.

Despite a long wait for lunch, it was worth it. Obviously people are lining up here for a reason, and good food is worth waiting for. In addition to the Thai Vegetable plate and the Senegalese Vegetable dish, we enjoyed a cask beer from Paradox called hoptagon. The IPA was great, however it was served in a cold glass... Which I suspect is a move to appease those not familiar with cask beer... Recommend that the staff inform customer of a cold glass choice.

Adams Mountain Cafe used to be one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, after today's experience it no longer holds that position. First, I have to say that in general, the ADULT food was decent. Why the two stars, then? The kids menu, and overall attitude towards children, is appalling (and yes, the site advertises that it's good for kids)! For starters, we were never offered a booster seat (or any type of child-friendly seat), and when we ordered our 2 1/2 year old daughter an apple juice, the server brought it out in a large to-go coffee cup! I asked if there were straws available, and was told "no." Then for lunch, my husband and I ordered our daughter the Kid's Pasta. This is advertised as being Fettuccine pasta with a Parmesan butter sauce. In actuality, it was cold Penne pasta with, literally, a sprinkling of Parmesan and a blob of butter! The pasta was so cold, the butter didn't even melt into the noodles, and the noodles themselves tasted like they'd been cooked in unsalted water. I'm not sure what Adams is trying to accomplish with it's kids menu, but frankly, I'm offended that Adams offers it's younger patrons such poor quality food, and I will not be returning.

Just tried out their new location, which is way down from where they were. We ordered two vegan meals. I wish that the menu was marked with the vegan/vegetarian options, but according to the back of the menu, this helps to start a conversation with the wait staff. Our waitress was able to let us know what they could veganize, which sadly the pancakes we were hungry for were not on her list. Overall, the food was mighty tasty. I would come back to here again.

My boyfriend and I have been traveling through the southwest for 2 weeks and Adams was a much needed break from all the BBQ, roadhouses, and saloons we'd been encountering. We both had the salmon omelette and fruit and it was great.

This is the absolute WORST breakfast encounter I've ever had since finding out about having a dairy allergy. Some of the reviews I read said they could handle it...maybe in the past, but not now. I should have listened to all my fellow Yelpers warning me to run instead (I reviewed both the original and the new location before taking a chance). It's hard enough to eat out with a food allergy, so when you find a place that actually advertises they specialize in gluten free and vegan food, the last thing you expect to do is have to ask 15 questions to ensure your meal will be safe to eat. This is what you are trying to avoid! The service is horrendous (I had to keep telling myself NOT to slap the snarky out of my server!) and after assuring us that the kitchen knows what they are doing and that they serve allergies all day long, she finally took our order. Then, the waiting started. Our lovely server couldn't be bothered to even check our drinks. Finally, the food arrived. By the way, this was 47 minutes after placing the order. If the food was worth waiting for, all would have been forgiven. We had three meals: the pancakes were cold and tough, the polenta was completely flavorless as was the green chile sauce, and everything on the vegan huevos was so bland. It was overpriced anemic slop. They did cook the eggs as ordered for everyone. I keep forgetting I can take pictures...sorry about that. We also observed that the table next to us asked to speak to a manager and the server told them that the manager was too busy to come out and talk to them. One more vote for "stay away"!!!

Don't bother making reservations online because they don't adhere to them even though their site advertises it. Two reservations, two 'sorry, we cannot accommodate your reservation' upon arrival. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I'm going 5 stars here. I think that my initial expectations where set a little low given the location and the time of year. Anyhow, boy was I surprised! The food was very good! I had the Huevos Rancheros and it was delicious! All of the the breakfasts look tasty and our the service was good as well. The food is prepared with care and is definitely a step or two above the diner food that I was expecting. The interior was very tastefully done in a contemporary fashion. You can tell that it has been recently remodeled which is a good thing. So yeah, try it, I bet you'll like it.

With Rocky's art on the walls and the occasional wonderful artists playing beautiful music.. It is always a treat!! Wonderfully serendipitous find. We saw it along the roadside one Sunday morning on the way to Manitou Springs and decided to try the place. What a great decision. Everything was fresh, special, and delivered quickly. Our waitress was fun and conversational without being intrusive. We liked it so much, we went back the next Sunday. A special for us are the whole grain pancakes -- delicious with either the egg or potatoes sides. We also greatly enjoy the medley of fresh fruit. Try one of their specialty fruit - vegetable - spice juices for an added treat.

I'm only rating this 2 stars because the potato onion pancake thing was really good and the remodel is BEAUTIFUL! When I read the menu I was very excited. I love a place that does interesting and quirky food. Half of my food was delivered COLD and when I asked if they could just microwave it I was met with "we don't have a microwave" and some comment acknowledging they knew they had a difficult time keeping what I ordered warm. Food is supposed to be served at specific temperature ranges or else it becomes a breeding ground for food poisoning. I won't be coming back. We paid 30 bucks for something I can't get the taste out of my mouth quick enough.

While I think the food is pretty good here it doesn't rate a three for me based on price. When your appetizers are as much as an entree there is something wrong with pricing. I remember this building being a pancake house many years back and I have better memories of meals there than what I had Saturday night. The remodel of the place is quaint. They use French doors as a room divider of sorts to keep the area near the front door from being too open to drafts while keeping the light from being blocked. The exposed beams bring your eye to the ceiling and the hodge lodge of similar but different chairs is kitschy. The waitstaff was all in black, but not in a classy way which would go better with their pricing, but in a super casual unorganized just got out of bed teen look. The food itself was ok but nothing to write home about. The $14 Mac and Cheese looked good when it arrived and included Gruyere and asiago in the sauce but tasted a bit gritty by the end of the dish. The turkey dumpling soup was tasty but should have been called turkey veggie, no dumpling to be found. House salad was a nice assortment of veggies. The menu didn't offer much variety either. There was a lot of fish, a lasagna and a Mac cheese. One friend couldn't find anything he'd eat other than a salad. Disappointed with the place as a whole. Don't foresee coming back again.

I can't even begin on how disappointed I am with this restaurant. My dad and I came from the Manitou Incline and we were starved and I'm always looking for a good new vegan place to try. ACCORDING TO THE RESTAURANT ON THE HEADER, it says they are Vegan, which they ARE NOT VEGAN !!!! We arrived and it was quiet busy so we ate at the bar, our waiter asked if we wanted any other drinks and I asked if the cinnamon roll toast was vegan and he said no. So I moved on to something else and asked if the pancakes were vegan and he said no it's a yogurt and milk based mix and already pre made so can't be. I asked what could be vegan and he said a scramble with no eggs, cheese, or chili. So I settled with breakfast potatoes and tofu. Fast service is not their For tae it took 25 minutes to receive food that was not even hard to make nor that good. Honesty I could make food way better than this. My dad had 2 whole wheat pancakes, eggs and fruit and they were subpar. I had sliced up red potato chunks like huge pieces with sesame tofu , it was boring, lacking seasoning and just overall disappointing. Our total was around $30 which is way over priced for the poor quality of food .. I would not recommend this place

I have to say the interior is nicely designed except for the little cups of vomit at each table. To the fellow vegans you have better vegan options at Taco Bell. If you're lucky like me...They will forget to cook their Tofu and tell you it's suppose to be that way. Pricing was also pretty outrageous; My friend got a plate of veggies with sunmaid raisins for $14 bucks. To those of you that decide to eat there I have to say WARNING: There is a there Waitress there that will try to trick you into giving her all of your change as a tip! So beware!

Fantastic breakfast, tea, coffee, and special items every time I have visited. The orange spice tea was one of my favorite teas and the Chai Latte was as good. The omelet of the day was a good option, but nothing here is a bad option.

If you are vegan and have high hopes this is not the place for you. There's very little on their menu that is vegan and none of it is by default, you will have to have a long conversation about each menu item in order to figure out what can be made vegan. Didn't even order. Just had coffee and watched my friends eat.

Super delicious food and a place where you can actually have a conversation with your dining companion without yelling. Highly recommend the Senegalese vegetables! Every beverage option one can imagine: fresh juices, wine, beer, almond milk, etc etc.

Woo Hoo! Comfort food, but interesting comfort food. Healthy comfort food. International foods. Nice people. Good service. Loved my perfect Omelette of the Day. Our party ALL enjoyed their food. The beer selection is particularly worthy.

Very bohemian, and Eco-friendly. Went here while was on vacation, and they had some weird ketchup. The eggs were really fluffy, this place is very unique and I would recommend this place to anyone.

The food was excellent. They believe in the slow food philosophy, with no microwaves or prepared foods. They buy organic and local first. Fantastic meal!

  • Melissa B.

So beware!

As always, the small planet burger makes my tastebuds sing and my belly happy. I would LOVE to know how to make it for the times I can't get to Adam's. Service was good, the new location is awesome (now with PARKING!!) and even closer to me than the other location.

  • Nick V.

This is my favorite place to eat in the state.. Hands down! We drive down from Denver to eat here! We alway talk about the planet burger.. (We crave the planet burger!!) They make their food with so much love.. you can taste it in every bite! And the atmosphere is always so comfortable! With Rocky's art on the walls and the occasional wonderful artists playing beautiful music.. It is always a treat!! Still need to get down there and see their new location.. that needs happen soon.. and i have seen they have expanded their menu..Yesssss!

So beware!

Very bohemian, and Eco-friendly. Went here while was on vacation, and they had some weird ketchup. The eggs were really fluffy, this place is very unique and I would recommend this place to anyone.

If you are vegan and have high hopes this is not the place for you. There's very little on their menu that is vegan and none of it is by default, you will have to have a long conversation about each menu item in order to figure out what can be made vegan. Didn't even order. Just had coffee and watched my friends eat.

Recommended by friend and did not disappoint! Stopped by for breakfast. Kids split the orange almond French toast. Husband enjoyed the oatmeal. I picked the omelette of the day. Clean, light, open but quaint atmosphere.

Ordered to all natural pancakes. Different but good. My friends were very impressed with their breakfast as well. Next time I think I will try the salmon omelet.

There are cooks and there are chefs, these are the best of chefs so our breakfast was incredible. Every time we come into town, we come here!

Delicious breakfast! 2nd time in a row. Will be back. Reasonable 20min wait. Food came out surprisingly quickly after ordering. Awesome omelettes, quiche, huevos rancheros, etc. Gotta come try later in the day food soon!
